St. Neo’s Brasserie and Oyster Bar nears completion

For about as long as you can remember, you’ve probably been asked the most popular question there is when it comes to food in Savannah and the millions of visitors we get here every single year.

“Where can we find good seafood?”

Of course, not everyone is looking for Savannah’s version of Atlanta’s The Optimist or Charleston’s The Ordinary (though I really wish we had either one of those here). But it has been a little surprising to us that outside of Sorry Charlie’s on Ellis Square, no one has really attempted to fill that ‘Seafood House’ niche.

Until now, of course.

St. Neo’s Brasserie and Oyster Bar is set to open inside of The Drayton Hotel later this Fall at the corner of Drayton and Bay Streets downtown Savannah.

There are a couple of artist renderings on their website, which give you an idea of what this is going to look like, but a peek inside during a Hurricane Dorian induced stroll downtown gave us a tiny glimpse as well. It is going to be a beautiful space inside of a beautiful boutique hotel.

How boutique? Only 50 rooms. And they won’t be inexpensive either.

St. Neo’s will be a ‘Seafood Brasserie’ and the centerpiece eatery at The Drayton, there will also be a basement bar and a gorgeous rooftop lounge with some bites to eat offering spectacular views of the gold dome that is Savannah City Hall.

Construction is crawling to an end. Doesn’t it always in Savannah? I had a quick chat with chef this week. He tells me he hopes to get in to the new space and start kicking some tires in the next few weeks.

Timetables on an opening can get people in trouble this far out, but my GUESS would be sometime just beyond Halloween. Give or take a city inspection or three.

We should mention another downtown eatery is approaching an opening on Broughton Street as well. Broughton Common, brought to you by the same group behind the very popular The Ordinary Pub has begun their hiring process. That’s a huge space. It is at 118 East Broughton, near Abercorn.

We’ll keep you posted on both.

  1. Sorry you had to paint all the other seafood restaurants in Savannah in a negative light while trying to introduce a new place. Especially so many have supported you. And have yet to have a good experience at sorry Charlie’s.

But looking forward to any new place here

    1. Not sure where the negative came from. There are a lot of seafood options in Savannah. We are just limited on number of ‘Seafood Houses’ if you will. Very limited.
