St. Augustine Food and Wine Festival announces Talent Lineup

The St. Augustine Food + Wine Festival is an impressive four-day food and drink showcase, taking place May 6 – 9, 2021. The inaugural festival will be a celebration of culinary, beverage, culture and music that highlights celebrity guest chefs, local chefs, celebrity winemakers/proprietors, artisans, farmers, local craft spirits and beers, along with renowned wine, spirits and beer brands. The festival offers a wide variety of events, from wine dinners and tasting events, to master classes and more. Most events taking place at the host location sites, the World Golf Hall of Fame and the Official Hotel partner, World Golf Village Renaissance St. Augustine Resort. The most updated festival schedule includes:

Thursday, May 6, 2021 – “World Golf Hall of Fame Winemaker’s Dinner”
6-7 pm Reception; 7-10 pm Dinner, St. Johns County Convention Center
500 S. Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, FL, 32092. A gourmet food lover’s experience with a six-course dinner, featuring three guest celebrity/James Beard Foundation award-winning and nominated chefs, including Maneet Chauhan, television personality and award-winning chef and author, with a restaurant group in Nashville, TN; Paul Fehribach, Chef/Owner and author, Big Jones, Chicago, IL; and Michael Gulotta, Chef/Owner, Mopho and Maypop, New Orleans, LA.

The three outstanding local chefs, participating in the dinner include Brian Whittington of Preserved Restaurant in St. Augustine, Michael Lugo of Michael’s St. Augustine and Josh Smith, Catch 27 will each prepare a course as well. Each course will be paired with a guest golf celebrity’s wine – from celebrities such as Morgan Norman of Greg Norman Estates and LPGA Hall of Famer, Jan Stephenson. The Reception includes an Open Bar with an extensive Charcuterie display, by renowned Master Butcher, Michael Sullivan, featuring a variety of hand-butchered meats and locally made breads and accoutrements. The Renaissance World Golf Village Executive Chef, DeeAnn Hobbs will prepare a variety of hors d’oeuvres.

The evening will include a live auction fundraiser for the festival’s charity partners, the World Golf Hall of Fame and Jan Stephenson’s Crossroads Foundation and an extensive silent auction during the reception with luxury travel, golf and more. The festival will partner with several local, non-profit organizations on various events. The World Golf Hall of Fame and Jan Stephenson’s Crossroads Foundation are the festival’s two primary 501(c)3 charity partners, with 100% of the live and silent auction proceeds from the festival benefiting both charities.

Friday, May 7 – Epicurean Master Classes

The first three classes provide spirits, wine and craft brew lovers a chance to pick a class of their choosing, to learn more about their favorite beverages of choice at these fantastic off-site locations. There are three off-site Epicurean Master Classes on Friday, May 7, 2021 taking place at St. Augustine Distillery, Dog Rose Brewing and The Legends Restaurant & Grille at Slammer & Squire.

A variety of master classes featuring cooking demonstrations with celebrity guest chefs, beverage demonstrations and tastings from winemakers and beverage experts. This BBQ Extravaganza is a showcase of the southeast’s most celebrated Pitmasters and grill masters with wine, beer and spirits along the Walk of Champions. Live music with local favorite, Remedy Tree. A fun afternoon of culinary and beverage tastings, with live music in the beautiful surroundings of the Walk of Champions, the centerpiece of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Tickets include a souvenir glass for unlimited beverage tastings from hundreds of wines, beer and spirts exhibitors, and each guest will receive an RFID wristband which will be used for admission and to purchase culinary tasting credits. In addition, each attendee will receive a voucher for 50% off a return visit to the World Golf Hall of Fame Museum before 12/31/21 ($20.95 regular admission price).
The Walk of Champions and the World Golf Hall of Fame will be filled with a variety of exhibitors, from artisans and farmers and live music, to hundreds of different varieties of beverages – including wines, spirits and beers. Some of the local area and South’s best restaurants and food trucks will offer a variety of culinary options. Guests will enjoy the Taste of the South Magazine Demonstration Stage featuring chef and beverage demos, with limited tasting sampling available. Sunday, May 9, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, “The Jazz Brunch”(Family-friendly event)

This lively Jazz Brunch happens to fall on Mother’s Day in 2021! Each special lady will be greeted with a rose to start their day off right, along with a souvenir tasting glass. The Jazz Brunch is one like no other with an all-inclusive priced ticket featuring live music with Sam Pacetti, lavish brunch spread, with carving stations, indulgent sides, made-to-order omelet station, seafood station and a wide variety of desserts (something for everybody!). Bloody Mary Bar, Champagne, Mimosas and a host of unlimited beverage stations from the festival’s wonderful partners include wine, beer, spirits beverage tasting stations inside the brunch – coffee, iced tea and soft drinks beverages included. The World Golf Hall of Fame and the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort, St. Augustine are the host location sites for the 2021 festival, located 20 minutes north of historic downtown St. Augustine and the beaches. The festival is being made possible in part by a 2021 St. Johns County Tourist Development Grant. This culinary celebration takes place in one of the country’s most beautiful and historic cities, visit Florida’s Historic Coast and St. Johns Cultural Council for more details. The inaugural St. Augustine Food + Wine Festival will be one of the State of Florida and southeast’s major events taking place in Spring 2021.

Festival organizers have several precautionary plans in place for social distancing and to implement any health and safety measures which may be still necessary in accordance with St. Johns County Department of Health and the CDC, including limiting attendance at outdoor and indoor events. The World Golf Hall of Fame was chosen as a venue for its expansive space for site planning for social distancing, even with projected plans for a more widely distributed vaccine by spring.
A great way to meet guest celebrities and get exclusive behind the scenes access to a variety of events, is to become a festival volunteer. There are numerous opportunities and roles available for volunteers 21 and older to volunteer with the festival and receive free admission to events and more.
