It’s impossible for any of us who don’t work in a restaurant right now to understand what is going on inside of our favorite restaurants right now. We were made witness to that over the weekend with the passing of a Savannah restaurant owner due to Covid-19.
Marshall Urstadt, owner of The Bier Haus downtown Savannah lost his battle with Covid-19 on August the 7th. He was 51 years old.
For more than a month, staff at The Bier Haus kept the restaurant open while their employer was hospitalized fighting for his life.
Urstadt’s passing brings to light the fact that the struggles to get through a pandemic are far more than financial for every business that chooses to stay open. Every day, restaurant owners face the challenge of keeping their doors open or taking safety into account. Whether it be their own or that of their two families. Their staff or the family at home.
Eat It and Like It would like to extend our condolences to Mr. Urstadt’s family as well as his staff at The Bier Haus.
