The Little Crown Pub by Pie Society returns to City Market

Pie Society is excited to announce the opening of The Little Crown, the newest and smallest British Pub experience in Savannah, located on Jefferson Street in Savannah’s City Market.

“The Little Crown has been a vision of ours for about a year now, and after starting early renovations in September last year we are so excited to be open with the addition of our new evening hours and additional seating hubs”, said Melissa Wagstaff, co-owner of The British Pie Company. “We’re looking to bring our reimagined classic British concept to both future vacationers and Savannah locals, while implementing our new way of serving the public post COVID-19. Our aim was to create a more fun and relaxed pub-style setting for our food, so that guests can have a more complete British experience when dining with us. We have a fantastic location and Savannah is a to-go cup friendly city, so with the new regulations on capacity amidst the COVID universe our to-go cocktails have been extremely popular.”

The Little Crown’s menu emphasizes authentic recipes from the owners’ hometown in Staffordshire, England, such as their award-winning meat pies, desserts, pasties and sausage rolls. With new opening hours until 11pm on weekdays and 1am on weekends, the location boasts a full bar, including a variety of house-crafted cocktails with British themes, pub ales, wine and liquor.

“With names like ‘Gandalf the Grey’ and ‘Dr Who’, I had a lot of fun creating the cocktail menu,” said Joshua Fethke, Bar Manager at The Little Crown. “You’ll find a mixture of classic cocktails with a British twist and some house originals. We use house-made syrups and our menu has a big Gin focus which features our own Earl Grey-infused gin.”

The new pubs aesthetic is inspired by modern British decor infused with deep blues and gold colors, and amplified with stellar lighting. The renovation has allowed the extension of two new rooms, The Conservatory and The Snug, both showcasing unique design features and local artwork that adds a quaint and comfy feel for guests to enjoy. Both rooms seat 6-8 guests plus additional high top seating and are available for private rental. This is a great option for families and small groups who may have a private room to allow for better Social Distancing.

“It has definitely been challenging to open up the pub right now, with everything that is happening in the world” said Edward Wagstaff, co-owner of The British Pie Company. “But we are very optimistic based on the business and feedback we have had so far. We opened for a week before St Pat’s and then had to close for about 6 weeks. Now we are open at 50% capacity and keeping up with the regulations to make sure our guests are served in the safest way possible. We are a small place anyway so there isn’t any danger of a large crowd. We’re dubbing ourselves ‘Savannah’s Smallest Pub’ and we’re the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed drink and a great meal whilst chatting to one of our fantastic bartenders.”
