As the neighborhoods around the heart of downtown Savannah continue to develop their own identities, one often overlooked corner of town is finally getting some more love.
Hop Atomica is a new venture just about ready to open on Broad Street at 39th.
Up front the space is dominated by 20 golden taps. To the left, a wood fired pizza oven. The menu for now is on the smallish side. Tacos, sandwiches, pizzas and a couple of salads.
Once they open, they will a huge addition to Southern end of Savannah’s ever expanding ‘downtown’ scene. More and more eateries and bars are dotting the landscape north of Victory Drive. This will be the latest. Certainly not the last.
I have no trouble seeing Hop Atomica becoming a favorite neighborhood hang out very quickly. A great spot to enjoy a huge variety of beers with a few available bites on the side. It will catch on quickly.
As of mid-June they are open for take out food Wednesday to Saturdays 5pm-9pm. Owner Smith Matthews tells me they are hoping to open their doors to the public the first week of July. We will keep you posted.
