A few items for your calendar this weekend on both sides of the Savannah River.
2nd Annual HHI Shrimp Festival at Harbour Town
September 20 & 21
(Friday 5-8pm / Saturday 2-5pm)
If a family friendly shrimp, music & fun fest is up your alley then you’re going to want to head to Hilton Head Island where there will be an array of nearly 20 shrimp dishes provided by local and regional restaurants as well as craft beer, wine. Live music by local favorites Cranford Hollow among many other family fun activities to dive into. One day tickets ($35) or two day tickets ($65) available, kids 8yrs and younger are free on Saturday.
PRO TIP: If you buy your tickets ahead of time on-line, print them out and they will wave you through the gate at Sea Pines and you won’t have to wait in line to get in upon arrival.
Friday night’s event is a first time Craft Beer event at the same location. Dozens of regional brews and BBQ available. All of it in the shadow of Hilton Head Island’s famous Harbour Town lighthouse. 1st Annual FOO’d Truck Fest at Oatland Island

Members and non members welcome to enjoy a slew of parked food slingers surrounded by rare and wild animals. Have you been to Oatland Island Wildlife Center? It’s extremely family friendly with walking trails, a petting zoo and an inside (air conditioned) viewing room where you’ll find the reptiles and water life. One thing’s for sure, we’d recommend you double check packing the bug spray… You do not want to drop a hot plate of deliciousness because you’re fed up and swinging at those nasty blood suckers. For the BBQ Lovers:
The 16th Annual Brews and Blues Festival will be held downtown Hinesville. There will be arts and crafts and the usual outdoor festival shenanigan. Live music all day long. There will be a BBQ Competition beginning at 4pm. That means more to the judges (of which I was one last year) than it does to the customers. Point being, there will be some outstanding BBQ on display Saturday afternoon downtown Hinesville. What better way to sample a few spots in one location? Oktoberfest at Service Brewing
September 21

The insta-famous Pretzel Bun Brats with Kraut will be in full swing this saturday. Kevin Ryan will supervising them as they slow smoke, tossing them on the fire and throwing them hot off the grill to everyone who’s at Service craving a good time. Don’t forget to grab some of his homemade beer mustard to go with it. Tis the season! Teufel Huden, Oktoberfest Marzenbier and a traditional Bavaria-style lager will also be released Saturday as well. The Frond and Fern Outdoor artist market will be set up as well, so be prepared to eat, drink and browse local goods.
Oh! And for those meat free folks, Beyond Sausages will be available as an easy eating plant-based option.
