Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival: October 12-20, 2019

The 15th Annual Historic Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival exudes a genuine neighborhood feel – Bluffton locals turn out with their families, friends, babies and pets to indulge in the delicacies alongside hundreds of visitors. The award-winning Bluffton Farmers Market and restaurants like FARM Bluffton have put Bluffton on the thriving food scene – the walkable town could not be more charming with its historic homes and churches and the surreal views of the May River, an ideal setting in which to enjoy shrimp, oysters, all the fixings – and a craft beer or two. 3rd Annual Beaufort Food Truck Festival: October 12, 2019

The Lowcountry Jaycees are putting on the 3rd Annual Beaufort Truck Festival on Beaufort Town Center’s Boundary Street. A dozen of the best food trucks will be serving up fabulous recipes, and proceeds will benefit Camp Hope for children and adults with cognitive disabilities. Between the live music and DJs, games, and interactive kid’s zone, there is entertainment – all to help build up an appetite for more outstanding food truck fare. For history buffs, Beaufort is the second oldest town in South Carolina, chartered in 1711, and is in the heart of the Lowcountry. The city’s historic homes reflect the well-preserved antebellum architecture and exploring the tree-lined streets is a great way to walk off lunch!  Admission is free. www.business.beaufortchamber.org

35th Annual Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island Chili Kick-Off: October 12, 2019

There will be delectable cauldrons of chili from 25 professional and amateur cooks who take this competition very seriously – rain or shine. How seriously? Eat It and Like It’s Jesse Blanco will be among the judges in attendance on Saturday.

Although chili steals the spotlight, there will be live music, a children’s activity zone and for car lovers, a display of unique Jeeps from throughout the Southeast. To supplement the chili, beer, wine, hot dogs and ice cream are also available. Proceeds benefit local charities focused on children’s needs. There is a $5 entry fee plus $1 for each chili tasting ticket. The historic Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn is a Smithsonian-affiliate and a family-friendly venue: the grounds have an abundance of massive live oaks, marshfront boardwalks, a butterfly garden, a museum, art gallery and an exhibit about the history of Hilton Head Island. www.hiltonheadkiwanis.org
