Executive Chef and Owner Robert Stehling summed it up best when he told a Charleston Post and Courier reporter how he felt about his big announcement. “Everything has a beginning, a middle and an end.”
Indeed it does, but you still are shocked when you hear about it.
Charleston’s Hominy Grill, one of the most popular breakfast spots in that city and the State of South Carolina for that matter, has announced they are closing their doors for good on April 28th. The announcement was made via social media. The statement read, in part:
“When we first opened Hominy Grill in 1996, our goals were simple – we wanted to explore the traditions and history of the low country through our food. And we wanted to create a neighborhood restaurant with a sense of place.
Nearly 24 years later, we are astonished by all that’s happened. We’ve achieved things we never imagined – winning the 2008 James Beard Award for Best Chef Southeast was a major honor. Getting to know so many regular customers over the past 23 years has also been hugely rewarding.”
