It’s been quite a year for Bryan Furman. A month ago he watched his business burn to the ground for the second time in 4 years. That came days after he was nominated for James Beard Award.
Last year he was approached by the Atlanta Hawks to serve his BBQ at all events at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Super Bowl Sunday he served Martha Stewart and others while being crowned “King of Atlanta BBQ” by CBS News. A month ago he told us there was another honor coming, but he couldn’t share it quite yet. Now we know.
Tuesday he was named among Food and Wine Magazine’s Best New Chefs for 2019.
Food and Wine has been putting the list out of 10 up and comers to the business for 31 years. Each year, 10 chefs are selected for “lighting the way forward for American cuisine.”
