It’s not often you get to use the word “kerfuffle” so when the opportunity comes along, you write it and like it.
Kerfuffle would be the best way to describe what happened to Savannah’s uber popular Crystal Beer Parlor over the weekend via social media. A random Facebook post got the few who had seen the post all worked up in a lather. You know how the game works. Someone mis-understood something at its origin and by the time the story goes around the block non of the facts are right.
The sign on the door posted at Crystal Beer Parlor notified patrons that Crystal Beer Parlor would be closing from August 5th through August 22nd to re-finish their kitchen floor. A bit of maintenance that was required by the Chatham County Health Department.
Somewhere along the way, someone interpreted that to mean “The health department shut down the Crystal Beer Parlor.” Technically, we can say this is true. But the whole story is out of order.
The noise got so bad at Crystal, that owner John Nichols took to Facebook himself to dispel any bad intel on the street. The Crystal Beer Parlor is NOT closing and certainly not being shut down by the Health Department.
This is John Nichols, owner of the Crystal Beer Parlor. We are not shutting the doors. We are temporarily closing to replace the kitchen floor. We will be closed between August 5 and 22nd. We will open the 23rd. I don’t know where Jim Myers got the idea that we were shutting down but he’s wrong. We appreciate all of the support and we will be back with a new kitchen floor!!
-John Nichols, Owner Crystal Beer Parlor
That was the statement. Those are the facts. If you need a Greek Wing fix or a Triple Decker Turkey Club sandwich, grab it before the 5th or be forced to wait until after the 22nd.
End of Kerfuffle.
