Winners Winners much more than Chicken Dinners

As I tap at the keyboard, I realize we have but 30 hours or so left in the month of January 2019. A month we will never get back. Time is dissolved and all we are left with are the memories of near frostbite, the Saints getting jobbed out of a spot in the Super Bowl and three plus weeks of full bellies.

Futuristic Walt Whitman? Hardly. You know that’s not how I roll. Or bagel, or biscuit or baguette for that matter. Yes, I actually do think I can be punny sometimes.

All kidding aside, it has been a fabulous start to the year and we have all of you to thank.  Yes, we launched our very first Eat It and Like It Restaurant Weeks this month. We’d like to think it went well. Based on your feedback, it appears to have.

We also were thrilled to be able to take a few randomly selected winners to dinner over the course of the month.  Over 900 of you entered our “Dinner with Jesse” contest. We were supposed to select 3 winners. We wound up with four. One of our winners had an emergency and had to cancel, so we picked someone else and made it four.

That 4th dinner will be enjoyed later in February.

I’ve had a great time meeting so many interesting people from across the area.Talking about stuff other than food.

Mary Catherine Finnerty joined our group at the 1540 Room in the DeSoto for dinner to kick off Restaurant Weeks. There wasn’t one of us that didn’t walk out of there absolutely loving what offered that night.  Chef Mark and his staff deserve major kudos. That was a wonderful meal.

Amber Jones is a school teacher at Isle of Hope Elementary. She lives in Richmond Hill and is the proud owner of a PhD from Georgia Southern. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Belford’s Seafood and Steaks. The Seared Scallops with Bacon Cream appetizer may have been one of the major highlights of the entire month. Fabulous.

Statesboro’s Cathy Braddy Deal was our 3rd winner. We’ll be breaking bread next month.

Finally, last night, I had the pleasure of being joined by Pooler’s Jennifer Norton. She and her friend Cherise carved out a Tuesday night to meet me for dinner at 39 Rue de Jean. Lots of highlights to that meal including the conversation. Jennifer is thinking about starting a baking business.  Oh and dinner was great as well. What isn’t great about French Onion Soup, Twin Petite Filets and Creme Bruleé.

Yes, we ate it and liked it. Everywhere.

A quick thank you to all of you who entered our contest. As well as those of you who entered to win dinners for 2 all over town from our radio partners at Dick Broadcasting Group.

I’m sure if or when we will do it again, but you can be assured we will be having lots more fun throughout 2019. Remember, all of the good times we talked about today were squeezed into 24 days of food we called Eat It and Like It’s Restaurant Weeks.

See you on TV

Jesse
