Mark your calendars. The day has been set for a while now. Saturday, August 24th. There will be food, there will be music, there will be a fried chicken contest.
The Southern Roots Food and Music Fest is a first of its kind event in Garden City. There will be classic cars, food trucks and live music all day long. The headliner that evening will be country music star Tracy Byrd.
A large majority of the food will be available from food trucks all day long beginning at 2pm. The Fried Chicken contest will be also be the first type event in the area.
Five contestants (local restaurants or food trucks) will prepare their fried chicken for our judges. The winning entries will then be available for sale all day long during the festival for you to Eat It and Like It.
There will also be an amateur Fried Chicken division. Anyone wishing to be considered for entry should email info@southernrootsfest.com

The evening will end with the Tracy Byrd concert and a fireworks show.
