Sean Brock leaves Neighborhood Dining Group

For the better part of the last decade, Sean Brock and Husk have become staples on the Southern food scene. Beginning with McCrady’s in Charleston and later Husk and Minero, Brock and Charleston-based Neighborhood Dining Group have grown into one of the most popular restaurant groups in the region. Multiple national awards later, the chef and the group have risen to the top of their respective games.

Now they have decided to part ways.

Eat It and Like It has confirmed that Brock is stepping away from the Charleston-based NDG in order to focus on personal projects in his current hometown of Nashville. Brock has spent the majority of his time in Middle Tennessee recently while venturing out to oversee Husk in Charleston as well as recent expansion of the brand in Greenville, South Carolina and most recently here in Savannah.

In a prepared statement, NDG has announced that Brock will serve as “Founding Chef and Culinary Advisor” for the Husk family of restaurants but will step away entirely from McCrady’s, McCrady’s Tavern as well as Minero.

How much of an actual day to day role Brock will maintain with the Husk brand, if any at all,  is unclear.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to work alongside Sean for the past 12 years” NDG President David Howard said. “I am excited for his future and I am thankful that he will help us continue the legacy of Husk Restaurant.”

Husk Savannah opened in January 2018

Howard also says current chefs running each restaurant will continue to write their own menus and manage their staffs as they see fit in order to continue to offer a true “Husk Experience.”

Husk Savannah, for its part, opened in January of this year with Executive Chef Tyler Williams in charge of the kitchen. Williams was relieved of his duties within weeks of that opening.  A new and permanent Executive Chef has yet to be named at Husk Savannah.

Brock is traveling in Europe and unavailable for comment. Meanwhile, all references to NDG and Husk brand have been removed from his Instagram account. This link remains.
