Random Ruminations Nov 9th

It was supposed to be colder this weekend that it actually is. Thanksgiving a couple of weeks early? Ha ha.

*Speaking of Thanksgiving, no one is suggesting you blow up any family traditions this year obviously, but a lot of area restaurants are offering special Thanksgiving meals. Some traditional, others a little more envelope pushing. We are compiling a list and will have it this week.

*Hard to believe we are already talking 2020. We are very excited to announce Eat It and Like It will be title sponsor of the Cooking stage at the Low Country Home and Garden Show. We are recruiting some chef friends to come put on some demos for you. I am even going to do a few that weekend. Mark your calendar. January 17, 18, 19 at the Savannah Convention Center.

*Our weekly newsletter is growing very quickly. Every Thursday around lunch time we fire off some food news, updates and calendar events that you can use heading in to your weekend. Sign up on the home page.

*In the good eats department: Nothing but fantastic reviews coming from the water cooler when it comes from The Fat Radish and Husk Savannah.

*Congratulations to Atlantic for celebrating 3 years at Victory and Drayton!

*Check out Ele and the Chef’s new basement cocktail lounge. It’s called Peacock Lounge, located underneath Flock to the Wok on Whitaker. They’ve done it again. The space is simply stunning.

*It has been another incredible week for Savannah Food and Wine. As of this writing, all that is left are a handful of weekend events including Taste of Savannah and an event in Pooler and Brunches. It’s been a great great week. If you’ve never participated, make plans to join us next year.

*Speaking of SFWF, I have a funny to share. I was approached by gentleman at one of the events this week who told me he was a huge fan of our television show (Saturday nights 11:30pm WTOC-TV). He said on a recent trip to Brussels (yes, Belgium) they found themselves watching an episode. Not sure how that was possible, but he swore it was me. Unless they were watching on-line.

*We had a great time sharing some great seafood stories last week. Hilton Head, Tybee Island, St. Simons. There are some good eats out there waiting for you to Eat them and like them.

*Speaking of Hilton Head Island, did you hear about our Fried Chicken and Champagne night at Lucky Rooster? Unlimited fried chicken and bubbles for as little as $50++. Read all about it here. Coming up in January but tickets are moving briskly already.

*There are plans for a Savannah Fried Chicken and Champagne pop-up in the works too. Hope to announce that this week.

*Speaking of fried chicken, is there any more ridiculous story out there than that of the Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich? People waiting an hour for one. People trying to re-sell them on line for as much as $50! People are ridiculous.

*But then here I am talking about Popeyes again. Popeyes For the Win!! I don’t think I’ve been to a Popeyes in 20 years.

*We are sad to see El Coyote is closing their doors at Victory and Whitaker in Savannah. They had a good following. Read more here, but it appears to have been a case of just bad timing. Not ‘cursed’ locations or parking issues like so many like to try to claim.

*Got any information you’d like to share? About anything? Good meal, insider scoop or anything of the sort? We are always accessible. tips@eatitandlikeit.com
