Savannah rallies for its own. There isn’t a person who has lived here for any length of time that wouldn’t agree with that statement. The latest instance came last month when one of Savannah’s iconic restaurants The Olde Pink House was forced to close temporarily following a fire on December 28th.
Immediately following that fire, several area restaurants came together to offer displaced employees of the Pink House everything from a meal to a job. All of it much appreciated, especially coming 3 days after Christmas.
Now Husk Savannah is putting together an effort to help some of those employees as well. On January 21 and 22, Husk Savannah will be donating 20% of their sales to The Giving Kitchen, an organization created to help hospitality employees after events like the fire at The Olde Pink House.
There is not only an obvious sense of community and a willingness to support, but management at Husk will tell you, they’ve been there before and it’s no fun at all.
“A few years ago when Husk Nashville was forced to close as a result of a fire, fellow restaurant Two Ten Jack held a fundraising evening for the Husk Nashville staff that had lost wages during the time closed. In an effort to pay this generosity forward given this similar situation at The Olde Pink House, Husk Savannah is committed to help support the 279 fellow F&B community members from The Olde Pink House during this time of need.”
