Giuseppi’s Pizza and Pasta House

You know those times when the craving for Italian food just isn’t satisfied until you sink your teeth into a solid chicken parm or pizza?  Yeah, not only do we know all about that, but so does Giuseppe’s. A Hilton Head Island institution for over three decades. Jason Galizia, he’s the man in charge. He knows the story.

“We’ve been around for 30 plus years in this location. ” he says. “You can’t survive that long without your locals. You will see the same faces in here week after week. They know the bartenders, they know the servers. The bartenders and servers know them.” he adds.

He’s not kidding either. On this island, there are a lot of favorites for good ol’ pizzas and pastas. Hard to argue any of them more popular than the pies coming out of this place. Some of them dressed up a little bit, still others keeping it kind of simple. You know, a little bit of something for everyone.

Giuseppe’s is known for its pizzas. It’s known for its amazing toppings on pizzas. But it is more than just that. We do a lot of to go business for time shares and the tourists, but we do a full service menu from Chicken Parm to Lasagna.” Galizia says.

That is absolutely the case. It would be easy to label Giuseppi’s a pizza spot, but there is so much more to their menu. The wings are as good as you will find on the island. They are made to order every single time. The pastas are made with care.

“We do a hand breaded chicken cutlet with Italian bread crumbs, smothered in our house marinara sauce. Topped with Mozzarella and Provolone. It is baked off in the oven first. Then it is served with a side of pasta and marinara and toasted garlic bread.” Galizia says.

“The lasagna” he adds. “Is up there as well. We have tried changing that recipe a couple of times. People love our original recipe.  It has pretty much been there since day one.” chef says.

“Our daily and weekly specials usually feature a pasta. Seafood Diavolo, chicken picatta. Things like that.” he says.

The food is fantastic, but it is that family atmosphere is what seals the deal here at Giuseppe’s. That’s all you see here are families. However, there are plenty of spots at the bar. For the sports dads out there too. The theme in here? Steel City. Pittsburgh.

(Laughter) “Anyone who has anything to do with this particular restaurant is from Pittsburgh. Tony is. Jim is. I am from Pittsburgh, other managers are from Pittsburgh. It’s not a requirement, but it kinda falls into place that way.” Galizia adds.

“We have loyal groups of Pittsburgh fans that come in. Whether it’s the Steelers, the Pirates, the Penguins. We have groups of people that come in. Outside if the weather’s nice or the events room.”

No, you can’t. What more do you need than a blue collar attitude toward great food, cold beer and a good time. Not so much, really. So get on down to Giuseppi’s and see for yourself.
