Fork and Dagger Latin Diner Pop-Up Dinner

They told him he was crazy. They told him the location wouldn’t work. They told him he’d struggle to get people to come find him. “They” told Brian Torres a lot of things ahead of his opening Fork and Dagger. He ignored it all and did his thing.

Fork and Dagger, a very popular breakfast and lunch spot on Abercorn Street downtown Savannah is becoming an ‘off the beaten path’ staple in the neighborhood. For those who don’t want to fight the traffic and struggle for parking North of Gaston streets it has become a go-to for a solid bite to eat.

When it opened, I said it was quite possibly downtown Savannah’s best deal for lunch. Brian and his business partner Sky Hoyt’s take on Southern and Latin classics make it appealing to so many. There is something on the menu for everyone. The one thing that’s been missing, is dinner service.

Last year, Brian and Sky acquired “Bobbie’s Diner” at the corner of Habersham and Henry Streets in the Victorian District. The plan was to expand the footprint a little, offer breakfast and lunch down the street to a different neighborhood, but eventually offer dinner.

They are starting 2020 off with a pop up dinner. On Friday, January 31st 5:30pm and a second seating at 8pm. Four courses, $45 plus tax and gratuity.

The best part? From my seat anyway. It’s BYOB.

You see, Fork and Dagger Latin Diner doesn’t have a liquor license yet. That is in the works, but for now, you are free to bring along whatever beverage you’d like. Beer and Wine are encouraged, there will be plenty of glassware for you use. You can, however, bring anything you’d like to drink. There just won’t be ANY mixers to offer for spirits.

“We want everyone to see what it is that we are planning to do this year.” Brian says. “We’ve had such a large following for our dinners from my time at EOS and Form in this area that we’ve just wanted to get back to that a little bit.”

“This isn’t going to be a ‘tasting’ menu” Brian says. “This is a full blown 4-course dinner. Latin inspired, because that is what our vision is for the diner in 2020.”

For $45? Yes, for $45. And you get to avoid mark ups on alcohol by bringing your own.

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT

Sounds like a deal to me. Apparently you agree.

As of noon on Wednesday, the 5:30pm seating is sold out. 23 seats remain for our 8pm 2nd seating.

Don’t delay. They will go quickly.
