Eat It and Like It Summer Dinner Series: Menu released

Raise your hand if you remember the times when there was very little but crickets and tumbleweed rolling through Savannah in the dead of the Summer? I remember it all too well.

Of course, the landscape has changed around here, rather significantly I may add. The amount of enthusiastic activity in and around Downtown Savannah has largely become a year round phenomenon. Yes, we have some slow weeks here and there, but most people would agree they are becoming increasingly much more ‘there’ than ‘here.’

We are keeping busy year round. A very good problem to have, of course.

With that in mind, we are having a couple of dinner parties this Summer. Fueled by the success of our Eat It and Like It Supper Club, which meets quarterly around the city for exceptional dining experiences, we’ve decided to add a couple of dinners to that calendar that are open to the general public. We are very simply calling it The Eat It and Like It Summer Dinner Series. It will feature 2 dinners this summer at one of Downtown Savannah’s most beautiful event venues, 13 Secrets Maison. It sits on Whitaker Street facing Forsyth Park.

On May 18th our Supper Club met at the Maison for a wonderful evening, by many accounts if was one of our best dining experiences yet. Our chef was Max Barbee, Executive Chef of the soon to be open FishBar Savannah, coming to the Starland District this Summer. The menu included fresh whole grilled snapper, beef tenderloin, butter poached lobster and citrus and my wife’s award-winning Caramel Flan with Raspberry Coulis. Yes, it won an award…our guests learned all about it.

You can read more about FishBar Savannah here.

Our next two dinners will be held on Sunday evenings July 20th and August 24th.

On July 20th, our chef will be Derick Wade, former Executive Chef at The Darling Oyster Bar. Chef Derick is a major talent who has cooked at resorts around the world. He has created an entity called Coastal Catch, largely a catering and consulting operation putting out exceptional food. At the St. Augustine Food and Wine Festival a couple of weeks ago, his was among the most popular food in the place. This event will be a real treat. 3 seats remain for this dinner as of June 12th. Menu is below:

Dinner will include a welcome cocktail and/or champagne plus wine pairings with first 3 courses.

Our August 24th event will feature a local chef we have yet select. We have a couple of options available to us, but we want to make sure we have the best fit for the evening. One thing I can tell you is that it will be an exceptional meal. They all have been. A wonderful meal and great conversation about Savannah’s food scene in one of the most beautiful spaces you’ve likely never seen, featuring windows looking out onto Forsyth Park.

Eat It and Like It Sunday Supper Club at 13 Secrets was a huge success

Each dinner will feature 4 courses and a wine pairing. Seating is limited to 16. We anticipate 2 full houses. Seats are $150 per person plus tax and gratuity. Menus won’t be available until roughly a week before the event.
