Yes, the Summer season is officially a month in following Memorial Day, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of time to check out what’s new at Coligny Plaza on Hilton Head Island.
Two new spots have re-opened in familiar spaces with a refreshed look and approach to both coffee during the day and street food into the afternoon and evening.
Brought to you by the same folks behind Sand Bar Beach eats right next door in Coligny, Carolina Coffee and Crumbs had been in the works for quite some time. “I always looked at the space from next door and thought it would be great to have a coffee shop here.” says Erika Waronsky, owner of Carolina Coffee. Once the space, previously occupied by Carreta Coffee came available she jumped on it.
The build out and remodel was thorough and complete. The spaces may be the same, but the two look nothing alike. Of course, you will find an extensive menu of coffee and coffee drinks, but there is also breakfast and lunch. Eggs to club sandwiches to salads and more.
This spot was also in the works for quite some time but it is finally here. Chef Clayton Rollison of Lucky Rooster Kitchen and Bar had been eyeballing this space near the beach for a while. We knew it was coming, but exactly what it was going to be was elusive. Every time we spoke to Clayton the concept he had in mind was different. It would appear the correct answer has become ‘all of the above.’
Lucky Rooster Market Street is labeled an “International Street Food” restaurant. One day you may go for the coconut shrimp po-boy, another day you may try the sloppy joe sliders. One thing you will probably be able to say is you will Eat It and Like It. Lucky Rooster has established itself as one of the best restaurants on the island with a very loyal following.
LRMS will be open late offering live music and cocktails as well.
