It took vision to buy a space on an otherwise forgotten block just South of Forsyth Park, bust out a few walls, build a kitchen from scratch and start slingin tacos. But that’s what they did at Bull Street Taco and in doing so have lit a match in the neighborhood. Yes, there were other businesses in the area already there or in the works, but Bull Street Taco has become the reason to travel to that neighborhood. The crowds at practically any time of the day will tell you that. Why? Well, they are pretty darn good tacos. Authentic? Nope. They were never intended to be. Chef/Co-owner John Massey calls it a ‘gringo taco shop.’ Which is what it is. And probably part of why its so popular.
Shrimp and Andouille Sausage Burrito Specials? Sure thing. Hot Mexican Beef Torta are a couple of specials that may make you cry. But what about the tacos? Our favorite? Red Chile Tempura Cauliflower with sauteed chilies, basil crema and toasted sesame. Yeah, we told you it was a gringo taco shop.
