You already own a popular waterfront restaurant where waits in the Summer can reach 2 hours for a table. The restaurant (also waterfront) next door to you becomes available. So what do you do? Well, you buy it and make a 2nd waterfront restaurant, right? That’s what Hilton Head Island’s SERG Group did when the took over what had been The Charthouse and made it an ‘upscale’ spinoff of their incredibly popular Skull Creek Boathouse.
Skull Creek Dockside gets the nod this year because the building was renovated beautifully to take full advantage of the waterfront views. The dining room is huge. Yet every single person eating can look out of the equally huge front glass out on to Skull Creek. At sunset it’s pretty spectacular. There is outdoor dining, but we are most impressed with the large dining room. As well as the 2nd floor banquet space that looks out through Spanish moss at the water as well. It’s a great scene. And oh, yeah, the food-including some of the only BBQ on the North End of the island is pretty darn good too.
