In the nearly four years since The Grey opened its doors on Savannah’s Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, there have been no shortage of accolades coming through the front door. They have been named to several national lists and even selected Restaurant of the Year by a national digital publication last year. You might just say there are too many to name, but as Savannah’s food scene continues to develop, there are frankly never enough.
The latest, one might argue, is to this point the biggest to date.
The Grey has been named to Time Magazine’s “World’s Greatest Places of 2018.”
Yes, in the world.
Seven restaurants from around the country made the inaugural list. The Grey among them. Undoubtedly, they are pretty excited.
“We’ve always kept our heads down and strived to provide our team and our guests with a world-class experience. So, when an outlet like Time comes along and tells you that you actually are ‘world-class,’ well, that definitely steals a breath or two” says John Morisano, Owner of The Grey.
“With that said,” he adds. “What Mashama and I are most excited about is the fact that we are hand-building The Grey and its brand right here in Savannah with a team of people who we sincerely love. We’ll all take a moment to be proud of each other. We’ll clink a glass or two and then we’ll get back to work.”
According to Time, the list was created from a group of nominees collected from editors, correspondents worldwide and industry experts. Criteria included quality, originality, innovation, sustainability and influence.
The list includes locations in 48 countries. It includes a water park in Texas and an underwater art gallery in Florida. Hotels from India to Buffalo, New York and Detroit. Museums in every corner of the planet.
