Odd Gai Savannah Pop up to run through November 29th

Former Husk Chef, Chris Hathcock has been keeping busy over the last few months. Since parting ways with Husk Savannah, he’s been hosting a number of pop up dinners around town. It’s gone so well, he’s now holding court at Strange Bird with their first “Chef Residency” program.

Strange Bird is the new casual concept at Barnard and Anderson Streets in Savannah’s Victorian District. Located in the old Streamliner Diner owned by the Savannah College of Art and Design. Their current tenant is the group behind some of area’s best restaurants: Savannnah’s Common Thread and Wildflower Cafe as well as FARM Bluffton.

The plan all along had been to offer the space on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when Strange Bird was closed to local chefs who wanted to host pop up dinners. Hathcock is the first. It started on October 10th and was incredibly well received. Common Thread’s sommelier Libby Burk has hand selected a curated list of wines to pair with the dishes. By Wednesday night there was a significant wait list. Yes, walk ins only. No reservations are taken.

The menus will rotate weekly, the first example is below. It offers cuisine inspired by Chef Hathcock’s travels through Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. You can check for current menus by following Odd Gai SAV on Instagram.
