FARM Bluffton group brings Strangebird to Savannah’s Streamliner Diner

I’ve been watching work going on at the Streamliner Diner on Barnard Street in the Victorian District.  Something was up.  I thought it was about to become another SCAD cafeteria.

Last week, I got a text from FARM Bluffton/Common Thread Executive Chef Brandon Carter telling me they had a new restaurant on the way.

“We’re opening Strangebird in the Streamliner! Let me know when you want to come check it out.” he said.

The news could not have been any better. This is a great addition to our food scene. They open this week.

For those who aren’t familiar, the Strangebird food truck is one of the best in town. It has been on the road for a few years and has a huge following in the area. They offer a variety of items but their burgers, chicken sandwiches and other street food. I don’t think I’ve had anything from that truck I have not loved. Totally on brand for the FARM/Common Thread family.

The food truck is still alive…in fact its parked outside the diner as we speak.

I didn’t get any other details but I suspect this will be some of their classic comfort/street food.  I’ve heard a few rumors what their menu will look like, but nothing confirmed. What I can tell you is that the menu will very likely rotate a little with some staples. I also know there is a smoker out back from Sandfly BBQs time at that location, so I would expect that to be put to good use.

SCAD, who owns the Diner, has applied for an alcohol license. More soon
