Thanks to all that joined us for a very special episode of Eat It and Like It. Quite simply it was a collection of some of my favorite stories we’ve told over the years. If you are a regular to this website then you know we do not, have not, will not ever consider ourselves a ‘restaurant review’ television show. It’s just not what we do. Our happiest moments are when we can share a story with you about a fascinating person who also happens to offer great food.
Here are the spots we featured in this episode of the show. In the order that they appeared.
Freeman’s Mill Grits – Stacy Freeman is unique. Incredible man, incredible story. Their land outside of Statesboro is a make shift tribute to agriculture and farming across the state. Oh, by the way, the grits are darn good too. Made with a grit mill that was originally built in 1862. He just added a few modern mechanisms, but the stone ground grits are ground with the same stone. Amazing.
Maté Factor Coffee Shop and Bakery – Located in the heart of Savannah’s Victorian District, Maté Factor is one of those spots you’d never know about unless someone told you. Everything they bake is made every morning (they arrive as early as 3am most days). They use all natural sweeteners and are as creative as ANY bakery in the city. Of that you can be assured. The space looks like a tree house hide away. The craftsmanship is absolutely incredible. Absolutely one of our favorites.
The Purple Cow – Hilton Head Island – The islanders all know about The Purple Cow. You should as well. Wonderful desserts, some savory dishes and a non pretentious wine selection that invites you to just hang out for a bit with the other locals and relax.

Love watching your show, I’ve been in Savannah since 2009. Don’t get out much but will in the future. My Grandkids has grown up…now it’s Nanna’s time to get to know Savannah Restaurants. Thank you!
