A lot of characters on River Street, anyone who knows it won’t argue. There is also a pretty good amount of good food. Gourmet? No. Fancy pants? No. Un-pronouncable? Of course not. It is, however, part of this region’s identity. River Street draws people from all over the world. They may come for the beverages, but they always end up enjoying the food as well. The Cotton Exchange is one of those spots where nothing changes year to year. Many many visitors come expecting just that. It’s not uncommon to run into some guests at The Cotton Exchange who are just off of a plane. Hadn’t even checked in to their hotels yet and they are there. Crab Chowder, Burgers, Bloody Marys, all of it great at Cotton Exchange, but its the atmosphere and the friendly smiles that make it what it is. A River Street icon.
