Savannah Restaurant Week: A Food Lovers Guide
Restaurant Week is here. Over 20 area restaurants participating in this annual event aimed at giving local restaurants a boost during an otherwise slow time of the year.
We’ve been putting on Restaurant Week in Savannah for 8 years now (including a few ‘black out’ years ’21-23) and we are very excited to put it together once again.
All of these menus can be a bit overwhelming. Decisions decisions, right? We are here to help. I’ve obviously seen every menu, I’d sampled a good bit of the food across the city. Every bite I’ve tried was great. Fair to say there was nothing I didn’t like. Did I like some more than others? Of course, that’s human nature.
But I was asked last weekend at the Home and Garden Show to name one “Can’t Miss” Restaurant Week meal in Savannah and I was very literally stumped. I mentioned 3 and then hated myself for some that I forgot that should have been mentioned. With that said, I am going to offer you a breakdown of what we have seen, eaten and liked over the course of the last 2 or so weeks in preparation for Restaurant Week. A simple guide, yes, but I come armed with information that may help you decide where you will visit between now and February 8th (Super Bowl Sunday).
Some highlights, beginning with Short Rib
Four Restaurants are offering short rib dishes. Lavender Rooftop Restaurant has a great Short Rib with Mashed Sweet Potato. More on them in a bit. Second, is Moss and Oak at The Downtown Hyatt on Bay Street. Loved it. Last but not least, was the short rib at Emporium Kitchen at the Perry Lane Hotel (photo below). All of them were great. Didn’t get to sample Sorry Charlie’s, but Emporium’s however was a tiny cut above.

Moss and Oak, meanwhile is offering Fried Chicken on their Restaurant Week menu as well as a Tofu Stir Fry (vegetarian obviously) which smelled absolutely delicious.
Speaking of Vegetarian, The Narra Tree in Midtown Savannah has a fantastic menu. Belle has put together an exceptional Curry Tofu with mixed vegetables that was a tasty of a curry dish as I have had in Savannah. Just wonderful (photo below). Check out her menu. Not to be ignored in the veggie department is the Quinoa stuffed Poblano Pepper once again offered by Chef Miguel and his staff at Emporium Kitchen. See that menu here.

One other Vegetarian dish we saw but did not try was the Persian Eggplant stuffed with Spiced Couscous and Walnuts at Silk Route Restaurant also in Midtown Savannah. It was by far the most fragrant dish we saw leading up to this week. (photo below). See their menu here.

The guys at Wright Square Bistro (one of Savannah’s true hidden gems) have a new chef that they are VERY excited about. They are offering a lunch and dinner menu for Restaurant Week. See that here.
Seafood? Of course.
The Atchafalaya (Cajun style Fried Catfish Smothered Catfish Etoufee) at Boars Head on River Street sounds amazing. See that menu here.
Sorry Charlie’s is offering (among other things) beautiful Pan Seared Scallops. (photo below). See their menu here

The Peruvian Ceviche at Mint to Be Mojitos on State Street was quite possibly the best Ive had in Downtown Savannah. So so good. See their menu here. For the record, the ceviche at The Narra Tree was crazy good as well.

River House on River Street is doing a scored Red Drum with a Sweet Tea Glaze. They are also doing fried oysters as an app. See that menu here.
Tortugas Island Grille in Thunderbolt is always a locals favorite. Garlic Seafood Pasta with Georgia Shrimp and Grouper and Mushrooms tossed in a white wine lemon butter sauce sound good to you? See that menu here. They are also offering a $21 Brunch menu as well.
There are 3 pubs on the lineup. Wexford Pub at City Market, Churchill’s on Bay Street and Crown and Anchor Pub in Pooler.
We saw 2 burgers. 22 Square at Andaz Hotel is doing a Southern Smash Burger. Two patties topped with fried pickle, fried green tomato, onion bacon jam and cheese. See that menu here. They are also offering a lunch menu.
Also Lavender Rooftop we mentioned earlier has not only a burger on their menu, but also the best views of any participant. See below.

And last but not least is dessert…… The Melting Pot is on board once again this year with a great 3 course menu for $45. The Flaming Turtle Dessert though. Chocolate, Caramel and Pecans? Sign me up. See that menu here.
Crown and Anchor Pub has a Sticky Toffee Pudding on their menu. Mint to Be Mojito’s is offering a delicious Coffee flavored flan. Churchill’s Pub has a Peach Bread Pudding (!!). Meanwhile, if you’ve not had the Bailey’s Cheesecake at Wexford Pub….what are you waiting for?
