Betty Bombers is one of those places downtown Savannah that you don’t know about it unless you know about it. Hidden in the back of an old American Legion Hall, Betty’s was created to offer food to the patrons at the American Legion bar up front. Only one of the best dives in town. That bar is open to the public, but a story for another time. The owners call their menu “Good Beer Drinkin’ food” so you don’t go there for the salads. Burgers, chicken sandwiches, nachos, wings and everything else you would associate with a hangover. It’s an absolutely kid-friendly space themed in a World War II motif. My go-to at Betty’s is the Ultimate Chicken Sub (pictured). I happen to think it is one of the best sandwiches in the city. Burgers are great as well.
