Savannah Mac and Cheese: This is a must try

How much must have I enjoyed this dish if I am dedicated a full post on the website to it? Yeah, that much.

We had company in town a few weeks back, so, in making the rounds playing “visitor” (we don’t like the T word around here), we made our way to Wexford Pub, Savannah’s still shiny new penny at the food of City Market.

For those who aren’t familiar, Wexford Pub is a roughly 14,000 square foot pub that was painstakingly put together by the Strickland family and their business partners. The Stricklands are founders and current owners of the River Street Sweets empire.

I’ve been to Wexford a number of times, so I’ve made my way through the menu. On this particular night, I took a shot at the Macaroni and Cheese. Being completely honest, I thought I’d like it, but I never thought it would wow me like it did.

Well, it did. A few weeks later, I returned for a quick chat with chef asking how it is made. Fairly simple, house made beer cheese, cheddar, cream, more cheese. Top it with bacon-or anything else you’d like-and bread crumbs. It’s baked for 4-5 minutes and out comes the magic. This dish is simply amazing. See for yourself here.
