Repeal 33 celebrates Grand Opening with masquerade party

If you’re going to have a masquerade party, 2020 is definitely the year for it.

Repeal 33 restaurant and cocktail bar is celebrating its grand opening on Thursday, October 1, with a performance from Savannah Sweet Tease Burlesque Review, a live DJ, and mask contests.

The restaurant formally known as Prohibition Savannah was speakeasy-themed. The new name has switched the concept from a closed-in feel to a more open celebration of space much like people enjoyed after the repeal of Prohibition in 1933.

When it opened to customers in August, Repeal 33 had reworked the menu to include more accessible dishes and seating space to more easily provide social distancing.

Safety will also be a feature of the grand opening celebration. Masks that cover your nose and mouth will be required, but Repeal 33 wants you to have fun with it.

“Say goodbye to your sweats and hello to your going-out clothes,” says Executive Chef and partner, Greg Garrison.

“We’re out to show that we can have a great time with friends and neighbors in a safe, socially distant way.”

The contests for best masks will include Couple, Most Creative, and Sexiest.

Aside from the contest and live performances, you can expect themed cocktails and plenty of champagne.

The Repeal 33 Mask-Arade Ball kicks off at 6 p.m. on October 1. Tickets are $40. You can find more information on the Facebook event page.
