Random Ruminations

  • 39 Rue De JeanRestaurant Week is in the books for another January in Savannah. You just gotta laugh when a group of 15 shows up without a reservation, then gets upset when they can’t be seated.
  • For the first time in two years I have Super Bowl Sunday off. Instead of making a big spread, I opted for 60 chicken wings. Variety? Yeah, I am investing my time in making 4 different sauces at home. General Tso, Traditional Buffalo, Lemon Pepper, and Garlic Parmesan.
  • The General Tso recipe I’m using is a bear. Got it from James Levens. Very talented chef currently working at The Florence in Savannah. Click here to see it.
  • You may or may not have heard, AJ’s Dockside, a Tybee Island favorite, is opening a new location. AJ’s Oceanside will face the beach on Tybee. They hope to be on-line soon.
  • Speaking of Tybee, our condolences to friends and family of Kevin Carpenter, one of the founders and owners of Sundae Café on the island. Kevin passed away this week. Sundae is, without question, one of the best restaurants in the area. A huge loss.
  • Ok, had to share this. A brilliant idea for your next party. Drunken Oreo Cookies? Love it and can’t wait to try this. Click here to take a look.
  • Did you catch our episode on all of the new restaurants in the area? See it here.
  • Guys? Want a quick tip on a better Valentine’s Day dining experience? Take her out to dinner on February 11th. Why February 11th? Well, because it’s not February 14th. If you’ve been together more than 2-3 years it’s a moot point anyway. Every day should be Valentine’s Day.
  • You can also save a ton of money on truffles and get her some good stuff from Savannah Tech. Click here to learn more about their Valentine Truffle Sale.
  • Applaud Wendy’s for eliminating soda from kid’s meals, but really. If you’re already at Wendy’s…
  • More hilarity. Living near a Starbucks could increase the value of your home. Who’da thunk it? Don’t believe me? Click here.
  • Our television ratings are absolutely through the roof. Way better than our wildest expectation. Savannah/Hilton Head Island’s #1 TV show by a long shot. Thank you as always for your continued support. Join us Sunday’s 7:30am on WSAV-TV. And until our advertising budget catches up with our appetites, please tell a friend or five.
