When we created this award, we immediate chose to name it after Savannah’s legendary pioneers of great ice cream. Nearly a century after 3 brothers opened a shop on Habersham and Gwinnett Streets in Savannah’s Victorian District, the lines for their amazing product continue to form down the street. Of course, ‘ground zero’ for Leopold’s today is on Broughton near Abercorn. The original location is getting some work done and will one day re-open as a retail shop and event space.
In the short term, you can enjoy any of the 11 original 100 year old ice cream recipes as well as a couple of dozen more that have been prepared and developed by the Leopold’s team of ice cream experts. Few things that we eat in this area are as synonymous with the region as is Leopold’s Ice Cream. 2018 Winner of an Eat It and Like It Foodie Award.
