Last Call for 4 Savannah Eateries – Kinda Sorta

The good news is, we’ve known about 2 of these closures for a while. So if you really needed a fix on some of the eats you won’t be able to get for a while, then you’ve had more than ample opportunity to do so. The better news is, in the case of all three you still have until the end of the calendar year to squeeze in a visit.

Olympia Cafe – River Street

Olympia Cafe, Savannah’s favorite Greek restaurant, made headlines earlier this year when it was feared that they would lose their lease in a City of Savannah owned building. Fortunately for all parties involved, cooler heads prevailed and Olympia has a new lease, literally and figuratively. There was, however, a catch. The building they are in is going to be getting a massive (and some would say long over due) makeover. That work will be forcing the closure of Olympia for quite some time. Maybe as long as a year. They have announced that they will be back, but they will be gone for a long long while. Their last day of service is December 31st.

Casa Guava Cuban Cafe -Drayton Street

Casa Guava is a small neighborhood Cuban cafe on Drayton Street near Harris. A couple of doors down from Pinkie Masters and home to Savannah’s best Cuban sandwich. Casa Guava announced a couple of months ago that they’d be closing immediately. Shortly thereafter they announced they’d remain open until the end of the year. Which is in a couple of weeks. If you’ve enjoyed their food, then you know how great it was (is). If you never got there, you’ve got until the 31st.

I spoke to owner Joaquin Montesino this morning and suffice to say he’s more than a little bit heartbroken over this. It has been a solid 2 year run that he has enjoyed every moment of. Sadly, business in the 2nd half of 2025 has dropped off by nearly half. Short of a Christmas miracle, there is no way he could survive a slow Winter off-season. So he has to close his doors.

Savannah’s Best Cuban sandwich is at Casa Guava -until December 31st

Baby’s – Price and 37th

This tiny grocery/sandwich pit stop on a very busy street corner will also be closing at the end of the year. The announcement was made via social media. The space, they say will be rented to someone who has the time to dedicate to making it what original ownership hoped it could be, which is a corner hang spot with quick eats and beverages. Their last day will be December 31st.

Trick’s BBQWest Savannah

Probably the biggest attention grabber on the list is the news coming from Savannah favorite, Trick’s BBQ. Trick’s has been a BBQ institution for decades in this town. A couple of years back they moved from their Bull Street location to a spot on West Bay Street in Savannah. This week comes news that they have lost their lease in that location and they are being forced to move again. They are, however, adamant that this is not the end of their families journey. Trick’s BBQ will find a new location, and they will be back. Their last day will also be December 31st.

When and where they return, we will certainly let you know.
