Fried Chicken and Champagne Night on Hilton Head Island

Yes. It is that time of the year.

For three years we’ve had the pleasure of hosting Savannah’s only Fried Chicken and Champagne pop-up dinners at a couple of different locations around town. We’ve enjoyed some amazing food, sipped on some incredible bubbles and had a great time every time out.

What we’ve noticed is that every year we had more and more guests join us for dinner in Savannah all the way from South Carolina. A few even grabbed a hotel room and spent the night.

Last year it was a party bus from Bluffton and a few others. Some came all the way from Sea Pines Plantation. Not that I haven’t done it many many times, but it is a haul just for dinner. Incredibly flattering.

So this year, we are coming to you!

On Friday, January 24, 2020 we are taking over Lucky Rooster Kitchen and Bar for a Fried Chicken and Champagne Pop-Up. Owner/Executive Chef Clayton Rollison and I have joked about doing this for well over a year. Now it’s reality.

A little background on the concept for those that aren’t familiar. Close to 5 years ago, I was told about a restaurant in New York City called Bird and Bubbles. That’s all they did. Fried Chicken and sides. Of course, a great champagne list. After some research, I came to learn that the best wine to pair with fried chicken is champagne. I have no trouble admitting that at the time, I had no idea that was a thing. After a visit to Bird and Bubbles, I knew it was something we had to do in Savannah.

Eventually we did and every night out has been a sold out success.

This one will be as well.

“It’s going to be great.” Chef Clayton shared with me this week. “We’ll do traditional fried chicken, but we are going to have some fun with it as well. We’ll do some Nashville Hot maybe some Korean Fried Chicken. Yeah, I think we’ll do that.”

Clayton’s wheels were spinning. I’m sure they will spin all the way up to January.

Menu will include Lucky Roosters Pimento Mac and Cheese with Crispy Country Ham, Collards, Dirty Rice and he was even inspired to whip up his special Banana Pudding for dessert.

We decided to make the announcement as soon as possible because we are still planning a Fried Chicken and Champagne night in Savannah in January. Those details are being worked on. We will know much more very soon. From our seat, as the logistics expand, we need more time to do plan appropriately.

We are just thrilled to be able to come enjoy an evening in the Low Country shooting an episode of our show as well. By the time we are done with this “Fried Chicken” episode, you will know all you need to know about making it at home too. We are going to have more fun with food than might be legal in some counties. Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.
