The Southeast Entertainment Restaurant Group (SERG) is expanding another popular Hilton Head eatery to Bluffton’s Buckwalter corridor. Frankie Bones, best known for a delectable menu of steaks, seafood and pasta with an atmosphere that pays homage to 1960s Rat Pack, will open a location in Buckwalter Place.
New construction is underway for a 5,400 square-foot free standing building by the new Kroger complex off Bluffton’s fast-growing Buckwalter Parkway with an estimated opening in December.
The expansion also will place the well-known restaurant in close proximity to The Culinary Institute of the South at Technical College of the Lowcountry, which will be located in the same development. The plans to work with TCL’s culinary school, scheduled to open in 2020, are ongoing.
“We are excited about the synergy that this will bring,” said Alan Wolf, SERG director of operations and partner.
Frankie Bones’ new construction will include a few exciting items from SERG partners’ wish list: a large outdoor patio that will seat 75; a pizza oven that will expand the menu’s offerings to include an expanded pizza selection; and a private dining room for up to 70 guests that can be divided for smaller private events.
Luke Lyons, Frankie Bones executive chef and partner, who also lives in Bluffton, said customers have been asking for SERG to bring restaurants to Bluffton for years and they are excited for the addition of local restaurants, not chains.
Frankie Bones’ versatile menu and atmosphere position the restaurant as a sought-after place for casual lunches, family dinners, watching a game by the bar or date nights. Additionally, SERG partners expect to continue Frankie Bones’ memory-making legacy as a venue for private parties that range from casual birthday celebrations to wedding rehearsal dinners. The restaurant also will offer catering and take-out.
“There isn’t anything else like Frankie Bones in Bluffton,” said Lyons.
With help from Kelly Caron Interior Design, Frankie Bones’ restaurant and lounge will retain the same sleek mid-century modern style with a beautiful marble bar appropriate for their signature martinis, subway tiles and high-back burgundy booths. Like the Hilton Head restaurant that was designed with the feel of the big city, the Bluffton location will have a swanky city feel with a bit more natural light from the large patio.
However, there is one thing that won’t change — Lyons’ eclectic menu of mouth-watering fresh local seafood, signature steaks and flavorful pasta dishes.
“Frankie Bones is famous because whether you’re 7 or 70, everyone loves it. It really does touch every generation, and that is a lot of fun,” said Wolf.
