It’s always tough to see a good restaurant shutting its doors. Even tougher when it happens roughly 6 or so months after they opened. That was the case here.
Folklore, the latest establishment to give the corner of Martin Luther King, Junior Blvd. and Congress Streets a run has abruptly closed its doors. Yes, for good.
The news came as a surprise to many, with guests holding reservations receiving an email telling them that Folklore would close permanently as of June 20th.
Folklore’s google listing also shows they are permanently closed.
For now the reason will remain something of a mystery to those of us on the outside. Folklore maintained a very active social media presences all the way until the end. Their last post was Sunday. Still, it’s impossible to believe something like this wasn’t in the works for a while.
Folklore is owned by the same group that owns the very popular Mirabelle Cafe on Abercorn Street near Liberty as well as the Bellweather House, a Bed and Breakfast on Gaston Street near Forsyth Park.
We have a call in to management in hopes of getting some answers. We will let you know what we find out.

Was in Savannah the first week of June. Ate there twice; the first time was wonderful, the second time not nearly as good. Consistency is important.
