The list of restaurants choosing to branch out from Charleston into the Savannah market continues to grow. Yet another indication of the growth of the food scene in the hostess city.
The latest to make it ‘official’ is The Darling Oyster Bar. One of Charleston favorite seafood spots located right in the heart of the city on King Street. The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon via social media.
The 2nd Darling Oyster Bar will be located on Franklin Square in downtown Savannah. In the building formerly occupied by Universe Trading Company. 27 Montgomery Street to be exact.
It will join 39 Rue de Jean, Husk, Prohibition Savannah and The Fat Radish in Savannah. (The Fat Radish’s sister restaurant in Charleston is Basic Kitchen).
The Darling Oyster Bar Charleston opened in early 2016 to solid reviews. It has been featured in several publications and is a regular suggestion on Charleston’s ‘seafood scene.’
In 2018, Eater Charleston put The Darling’s Bloody Mary in their Top 10 for that city. You’ve got to see that thing. For the young and hip, Thrillist named it one of Charleston’s most “instagrammable” restaurants.
The Charleston menu, which you can see here, is dominated by seafood (obviously). There is a wide variety including high end plates, but also ‘fry baskets’ featuring shrimp, fish and oysters. There is also a large raw bar.
