Area chefs to participate in 2019 Atlanta Food and Wine Festival

If you are passionate about food in the South-not to be confused with Southern food-then at some point or another you have either visited or considered visiting the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival.

Now in its 9th year, AFWF has become the South’s best gathering spot for eating, drinking, learning and discussing trends in food across the South every single summer. The 2019 edition is only a week away. May 30 through June 2 Midtown Atlanta. Every year you can count on chefs from Coastal Georgia and South Carolina participating in the event. This year is no different.

Orchid Paulmeier of One Hot Mama’s and The Lodge on Hilton Head Island will be there.  As will Prohibition Savannah’s Greg Garrison and Nathan Beriau of Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton.

“I’m looking forward to it. My first time.” Garrison told us. “We are going to be participating in Friday night and Saturday night events.” This year, tasting tents are moving to Old 4th Ward Park from Piedmont Park.

Orchid Paulmeier has become a yearly staple at the festival. To this day, the best brisket I have ever had was Orchid’s at Atlanta Food and Wine.  Clearly, I still dream about that, even though it was about 5 years ago.

It happens.

Nathan Beriau is one of the best in the area as well. Dining at Palmetto Bluff is on par with most anything else in the region.

Tickets are available in all kinds of price ranges. Day passes, weekend passes, higher end dinners, you name it. There is a little bit of something for all kinds of tastes next week.  See a full list of ranges here.
