Have you heard? Tiny changes at your favorite Costco

If you’ve been anywhere near a Costco food court lately, you already know—the $1.50 hot dog combo is basically sacred. And in a world where everything seems to cost more every week, Costco just reminded everyone why that deal still matters.

Here’s the headline: the price hasn’t changed. Still $1.50. Still one of the best values in food, period. That combo has held steady since the mid-1980s, and company leadership continues to double down that it’s not going anywhere.

But…they did make a tweak.

For the first time in decades, Costco quietly adjusted the combo by giving customers an option: swap the traditional fountain soda for a bottle of water. Same price, different drink.

It sounds minor, but people noticed. Some love the healthier, resealable option. Others aren’t thrilled, arguing the soda—with free refills—was part of the value play.

I’m a Sam’s Club guy and I always spend the 25 cents on a bottle of water with my slice of pizza. Options are always good.

The bigger story, however? Costco isn’t touching that price. Not now, not anytime soon. In fact, they’ve built entire supply chains just to protect it.

And honestly? In 2026, a buck-fifty meal that hasn’t flinched might be the most impressive thing on the menu.

Now if they’ll only get around to announcing that new spot in Hardeeville, South Carolina the world will be a better place.
