Local Pie Arrives at Bluffton’s New Riverside
There are any number of clichés that fit in this space. They’ve all run through my head the last 15 minutes.
Good things come to those who wait. Patience pays. The juice will be worth the squeeze. I could go on, but I think you get the point. There is very little chance I am going to overdo it here, because at the end of the day, we are talking about a new pizzeria, not a lunar landing.
Local Pie, the Hilton Head Island-based neighborhood pizzeria, is set to open their 3rd location in Bluffton’s New Riverside development.
The doors will open Monday, April 15th at 4pm.
The opening has been long awaited and highly anticipated. Several delays (in all shapes and sizes) pushed this opening back for many months, if not longer. The hope had been to open last year, but that obviously didn’t happen. No matter, these things take what they take. Local Pie is here now and the neighborhood is going to enjoy it.
If you are familiar with the other 2 locations (Hilton Head Island and Old Town Bluffton) you’ll find this space to be a little smaller than the former but a little larger than the latter. Including outdoor tables, they’ll comfortably seat ‘about 100’.

The outdoor seating lies in between this new Local Pie and an all new Frosty Frog being built out immediately next door. I suspect the smallish courtyard to eventually be among the more lively spots in the New Riverside area, particularly in Spring and Fall when the weather cooperates.
Inside, you’ll find two televisions above the bar. They are massive. More than large enough for the entire room to watch a major sporting event. This will be a gathering spot, for sure.
Local Pie first opened on the island in 2015. Two years later, their spot in Old Town opened. They’ve been around over a decade, the brand is established, most people know and enjoy the pizza and wings at Local Pie. You can find their menu and details here.
If you haven’t tried them yet, you will. This is a great addition to what is one of the fastest growing sections of Beaufort County, roughly 18 minutes from the Talmadge Bridge into Downtown Savannah.
I drive through here regularly. The growth is impossible to miss. We already mentioned Frosty Frog and their frozen drinks are on the way, as is Hilton Head Island’s Cafe Al Dente, a Chipotle and a CVS Pharmacy. All of that to go along with the already open Nom Nom Poke Shop (yes, same as Savannah’s), Grind Coffee Roasters, Eggs Up Grill and Flatbread Grill.
That’s a lot of eating and liking on the horizon.
For now, enjoy your pizza and wings. They plan to be open 11am until 10pm 7 days a week for now (Happy Hour begins at 4pm) until they get a better feel for traffic, of which I suspect there will be plenty. Check ’em out.
