Winner Winner Burger Dinner

Back in May, we told you about a burger contest that Michael Gottlieb, owner and chef at Wood’s Kitchen in Bloomingdale had entered into a contest with the James Beard Foundation. Michael and his brother Laurence came up with a beauty that has been one of the most popular things to eat in Savannah this summer. Even if it is technically in Bloomingdale. Since we reported on the burger, the line has been out the door at Wood’s Kitchen almost every day.

The contest pitted burger creations from across America. All entries were required to use mushrooms as part of the patty.  The public was asked to vote. The top 5 vote getters are then invited to New York to prepare their burger at the James Beard House in Greenwich Village. Voting ended July 31st and the Gottlieb brothers finished 2nd with almost a quarter of a million votes.  The event at the Beard House will be on October 16th where they will compete for best burger in America.

The good news for you, the contest is over, but the burger is staying on the menu. “I have to leave it on there.” Michael tells me. “It’s too popular.”  Their BBQ is pretty darn good too. A look at final voting below.

See you on TV,

Jesse
