Savannah’s Perc Coffee Opens “The Shop”

Way back when I got to know a gentleman here in Savannah who enjoyed roasting coffee beans, Philip Brown jokingly billed himself as a “drug dealer.” After all, there is no telling what someone will do in the morning before they find that coffee buzz equilibrium. Count me among those, by the way. Well, when you run a successful shop, growth isn’t too far behind. Philip moved his operation from Starland to a warehouse on Broad Street in Savannah. Now comes the next step, a small retail operation at his facility. On August 1st, Perc Coffee will open its first coffee shop. Offering a selection of their coffees, milk based drinks and some of their “Nitro Cold Brews”, which have been very well received. How could they not when it’s 8,000 degrees outside?

“This is a chance to invite the public into our space and share our passion for coffee”, Philip says.

Philip is nothing if not knowledgeable about coffee and his approach to it. I’ve spent many occasions discussing the process and the secret to a perfect brew with Phillip. This is now an opportunity to showcase what he is making and offer some folks a chance to taste what Perc is all about without having to go look for it somewhere else downtown. Frankly, it also gives those of us who race around town all day long another spot to dive in for a quick pick me up. This is more wonderful news for Savannah’s growing food and drink scene.

“The Shop” is located at 1802 East Broad Street in Savannah at 34th Street. Opening day is on August 1st and they will offer $1 drinks from 10:00 until noon.

See you on TV.

Jesse
