Random Ruminations November 18th

Running off at the keyboard while trying to figure out a creative way to not overeat next week. If you have a method, please let me know. Tips@eatitandlikeit.com

*We’re getting a lot of questions about the opening at Husk Savannah. Originally scheduled for December 4th, that has been moved back. Look for an opening around Christmas time.  Just after likely.

*We got that information at the Savannah Food and Wine Festival where Sean Brock held a cooking demo. Great crowd at Taste of Savannah. In fact, the entire week was fabulous. First time in 5 short years of the festival that every single event sold out.  All of them.  The entire week.  Bravo Savannah!

*That would include the Eat It and Like It Secret Savannah Speakeasy event on Thursday night. It has quietly become the best party of the week. Dancing, music, great food and an amazing atmosphere.

*Speaking of Speakeasys…..I’m hearing great things about Prohibition Savannah. I’ve visited a couple of times, great scene there. Welcome addition to Savannah food scene.

*Also hearing great feedback about East End Provisions. The latest effort from the Gaslight Group on Broughton Street at Price.  Haven’t tried their food yet, but the makeover is gorgeous.

*Not too early to make plans for a one of a kind event in Savannah. The Eat It and Like It Fried Chicken and Champagne Dinner will be held on Friday night,  January 19th at the B Historic Hotel downtown. Read more and get tickets here. All you can eat Fried Chicken as well as all you can drink champagne for one price. $63.

*B Historic’s neighbor Noble Fare has opened a sandwich shop. It’s called Totally Baked Grab and Go. See it Sunday morning, 7:30am on WSAV-TV.

*We featured Cuban sandwiches a couple of weeks ago. Fork and Dagger reports an average of 60 Cubans sold in a week. The week after the show aired, they sold 170.  Thanks to all for your support.

*Speaking of, the cheese danish at Auspicious Bakery on Skidaway Road is addictive. They are only open Sunday mornings and Tuesday afternoons.

*Looking ahead, Holiday Boat Show at Westin Savannah Harbor is coming November 25th. A great evening along the Savannah River.

*If you are on Hilton Head Island or in Bluffton, come join us at Frosty Frog in Coligny Plaza for College Football’s Championship Saturday, December 2nd. We’ll be there all afternoon and evening. Georgia vs. Alabama/Auburn and Clemson vs. Miami nightcap.

*A little farther down the road, Whiskey Wine and Wildlife returns to the Westin Jekyll Island, February 7-10, 2018. One of the best food events on the Georgia coast. Take a look!

*Mexicali Fresh in Berwick is now open. Have enjoyed two meals there. A welcomed addition to Savannah’s Mexican food scene.

*Our podcast Shuck It! is picking up some steam. Give it a listen and subscribe on iTunes.

*Leopold’s Ice Cream is now open at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. There is a kiosk beyond security, but now a full blown ice cream shop on this side of the gate so everyone can enjoy!

*Happy Thanksgiving to all! Wishing a safe and peacefull holiday week and weekend!

See you on TV

Jesse
