Random Ruminations – May 28th

So incredibly ready for summer vacation. Gotta eat though.

A final word on the 2016 Eat It and Like It Foodie Awards.  We are 3 for 3 on sell outs and work very hard to not overfill the room. The food was great, the venue (The Brice Hotel) was fantastic and the company was as good as it can get. Congratulations to our region’s true “Best”. To see a list of winners click here.

Next up, the Savannah Food Truck Festival on June 5th at Emmett Park downtown Savannah. 15-17 trucks will wrap around the park near Habersham Street at Bay Street. It is going to be great for Savannah and not the last time we will see this collection of trucks. We are movin’ on up.

No plans for Summer just yet? How about a Wine Theme Park. Sounds good to me. Take a look here.

New menu at a few places around town, including B. Matthew’s Eatery downtown Savannah. Take a look.

Ownership at McDonough’s has been busy. We’ve known for a bit that they were opening a pizza shop across Drayton from their headquarters downtown Savannah. Now comes word they are opening McDonough’s on Forsyth on Bull Street near Duffy on the South end of Forsyth Park.

Atlanta Food and Wine Festival is next week. June 2-5th. If you don’t have plans and are headed that way, it’s a good time.

Rancho Alegre, Savannah’s Cuban restaurant is now open in Bluffton.   4490 Bluffton Park Crescent. Off of Bluffton Parkway. West of Old Town Bluffton.

May 22nd was our Foodie Awards party and our final show for season 5 of Eat It and Like It. New episodes will return in September. Until then, feel free to catch some you may not have seen every Sunday morning, 7:30am on WSAV-TV.

Join us Sunday, May 29th for the premiere of a new TV commercial featuring Adam Turoni of Chocolat by Adam. It’s a good one. See it first during Eat It and Like It.

Me? I’m taking a nice break. Although, I won’t be sitting around long.

June 1st marks the official starting point for tickets for a number of different events at the Savannah Food and Wine Festival. Including the Eat It and Like It Speakeasy event at the Georgia Railroad Museum on Thursday night November 11th. It was a smash hit in its first year last year. Trust me, year two will be even better. Tickets on sale June 1st.

Speaking of Savannah Food and Wine Festival, they are now open to submissions for their 2016 poster. Click here for details on how you can enter.

Shrimp and Grits Festival is coming to Jekyll Island in September. Click here for more information.

See you on TV,

Jesse
