When the rankings come out a bit down the road this year, I would venture to say that this story will not crack our top 10. New menus, new chefs and changes in ownership aren’t typically the kind of stories that cause seismic activity around here. This one, however, will get people’s attention.
The hot food bar at Parker’s Market (affectionately known as Parker’s Kitchen) on Drayton Street in downtown Savannah, is now open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
I will pause while you re-group and read the rest of the blog.
There was a time, once upon a moon, when the hot bar at Parker’s was my late night go-to after work. I’d sign off the 10pm news at 10:56pm and a number of times would be walking through the sliding doors at Parker’s by 11:08pm. Never loaded up. Biscuits and gravy and all of that craziness certainly not my thing late night. I would, however, grab 2 chicken fingers and go.
There were a couple of times, for whatever reason, that I would roll up in there before 11pm only to find the lights off at the hot food bar. In all of recorded history, that hot bar had closed from 3pm until 10pm. There were times when I used foul language. I am ashamed of that, but ultimately was pleased because it led to smarter choices, like an apple. How about them apples?
All joking aside, it’s good news especially at the dinner hour when you’d like to grab something very quick and hot downtown without having to sit down go through the “dining motions” for that hot meal.
Options are always good. Now you have another at which to Eat It and Like It.
See you on TV,
Jesse
