No fun with the Flu

The original title of this quick blog was supposed to be “Ain’t no fun with the flu.” Ultimately, my childhood grammar teacher was screaming at me in an effort to clean it up. I do, on happenstance, use ain’t. Typically as a joke. I don’t know, something about putting it in the title of a blog haunted me.

So did the flu. Oh Lord and baby Jesus.

Spent a fabulous weekend a couple back down on Jekyll Island for Whiskey, Wine and Wildlife. By all accounts, it was the best event yet of the three that they have held. The Saturday main event “Whiskey WIne and Wildlife” also sold out for the first time. I’m told a hundred or so people were turned away at the door because they were at capacity. Some had driven up an hour plus from Jacksonville. Non to happy to find out all of the tickets were gone.  Good problems to have I suppose.

By Saturday night of the four day event, I started feeling a little sluggish. Didn’t think a whole lot of it. It had been a long weekend. Perhaps I was a bit run down. By 4am on Sunday morning I was taking whatever cold meds I was carrying with me.  By the time I got home Sunday afternoon, I was thrown on my couch at home watching movies. Which on the weekend is something I never do. I mean, NEVER do.

Sunday rolled to Monday and the over counter meds were popping hot and heavy. My routine was pretty simple. Lay in bed on the couch, find the strength to get up, walk over to the fridge, open it, expect to see something different than I did an hour before, and go back to bed.

I wasn’t sleeping, I wasn’t reading, I wasn’t nothin’. (All due respect to Ms. Polsteen in 5th grade.)

Ultimately, it was like another lost week to the snow or a hurricane. I cannot stand not being productive or rolling our snow ball up the hill. I had a lot of story ideas, and some more that I plan to bring you, but last week? Nothing moved. At all.

Glad to report we are back in the saddle and eating and liking again. Just in time for some of the best Springlike weather we’ve had in years. Had an excellent dinner at the all new El Coyote. Look for that and more news as the week rolls on.

See you on TV

Jesse
