That didn’t take long.
Eat It and Like It has learned that a new restaurant is going into the space formerly occupied by Leoci’s Trattoria at 606 Abercorn in Downtown Savannah. Just like the previous tenant, the cuisine will be Italian.
The newly renovated space will be called “Cuoco Pazzo” (Crazy Chef in Italian) will be operated by the same ownership the as Little Italy on Wilmington Island, Bella Napoli downtown Savannah and La Dolce Vita on Tybee Island. “We are going to do something different with that space.” General Manager Chris McGary said. “The menus will be different than our other locations. We are going to have some small plate options and a fantastic wine list.”
McGary tells me the space is being freshened up before it is used. New flooring, new doors and certainly new decor will in place before they open as early as May. The outdoor deck will remain behind the brick and mortar portion of the restaurant, but the tent that covers it will be removed. “We have drawings that were done for an awning that is going to wrap around the building.” McGary says. “It’s going to be beautiful. We are really excited about this one.”
The space became available after the-at one time very popular-Leoci’s Trattoria closed its doors after 6 years with its chef and owner Roberto Leoci announcing that he would be leaving Savannah and pursuing opportunities elsewhere. You can read that story here.
