I tried to sit down and do the math and figure out exactly when was the last time I was in a kitchen cooking something on our television show. It has certainly been a while. Well over a year. At the end of the day, probably closer to two. Well, if I had a nickel for every person on the street who has said “I love all the places you take us to, but I miss seeing you in the kitchen!” I’d probably own a beachfront home somewhere. Not only have those kind words not fallen on deaf ears, but I miss it. I really do. It’s a more relaxed environment and creativity is always fun. I’ve said it many many times, my favorite part of what I do is meeting new and interesting people. People who wake up before the sun rises and work hard doing (in most cases) something they love. It’s an honor to be able to tell some great stories and, as a result, see some up and comers achieve greatness.
With all of that in mind, we are going to slowly make our way back into the kitchen again. The second half of this season (Winter/Spring) will have much more hands on fun in the kitchen. The first of which is our 12 days of Christmas recipes holiday show we shot at the Mansion on Forsyth Park for the 2014 Holiday Season.
Myself, Executive Chef Peter Russo, and Personal Chef Nora Von Dyuke all went into the cooking school inside The Mansion and whipped up a few quick, simple dishes that can be popular this time of the year. Chef Peter whipped up fresh pasta (yes, handmade) and clams, Chef Nora made a couple of different appetizers. I made a quick brusssel sprout recipe. I have become obsessed with them lately and I have begun to tinker with them a little bit. It’s an entry level recipe, but there is really no reason why you shouldn’t be making these at home if you enjoy them.
