What’s New on Hilton Head Island: Summer 2025

Memorial Day weekend is the (un)official kick off to summer at Hilton Head!  The island is about to welcome around 100,000 new people each Saturday for the next several weeks.  Because so many annual visitors will be arriving soon, I wanted to give an update on the HHI restaurant scene because it looks a lot different than it did last summer.  We have new restaurants, restaurants that closed and some that switched locations.  Here’s what you need to know before you visit this summer!

New Spots

Local Legend Brewing Company

Located on the south end of HHI, this is a new brewery/restaurant/entertainment concept from the Serg Group.  It’s packed with TVs (25 to be exact!), game tables (shuffleboard, billiards & ping pong), a vast menu and spacious outdoor area with corn hole.  We visited this new spot back in March with a multi age group and enjoyed playing games, competing against each other and sampling the LLBC beers!  The Carolina Gold wings were hot and crispy and I also enjoyed the Harvest Salad with blue cheese and butternut squash.  Next time I am there, I want to try the Drunken Shrimp soaked in LLBC Amber Lager and Old Bay butter.  I expect it to be a very popular spot for tourists and locals this summer!

Tin & Tallow

At the start of the New Year, Jarvis Creek General Store closed and slowly morphed into what is now Tin & Tallow.  For those that don’t know, T&T started as a food truck and built a strong following for its gooey cheeseburgers and truffle fries on Hilton Head.  Now, the food truck is permanently parked at this spot and cranks out burgers, chicken sandwiches and fries each day.  Cocktails, local beers, and wine are also on the menu as well as coffee and breakfast pastries from Sweet Al’s to kickstart the morning.  Their oak covered outdoor area is a popular place for post pickleball friends to gather and where music lovers can take in live music each weekend.

Tin and Tallow has become the most popular burger on the island

Masala Mantra Indian Bistro

Indian food lovers jumped for joy last August when Masala Mantra opened in Wexford Shops in the former Zaxby’s space.  Since then, they have become a popular spot on the island for diners.  I am a big fan of their samosa chat and veggie korma.  The garlic naan is always served hot, finished with butter and ready to devour!  My husband loves the chicken vindaloo because of its spiciness level.  Thankfully, Masala Mantra is happy to adjust the heat level for most of their dishes to the delight of diners.  Of course, we have to wrap up the meal with a sweet treat, gulab janum, which are fried balls made from milk solids that are served in a cardamom sugary syrup!

Uncle Billy’s Burger Bar & Papi Tequila

Uncle Billy’s Burger Bar opened up several weeks ago in Reilley’s Plaza.  Billy’s has a limited menu of burgers, fried spuds and chicken fingers BUT you can also order off it’s brother restaurant, Papi Tequila, and vice versa.  Papi Tequila’s menu focuses on tacos, burritos and quesadillas while also showcasing an impressive amount of margaritas on tap.  This ordering option helps please large groups by having access to two menus while dining in the same spot! Both spots are owned by the CRAB Restaurant Group.  Check out my recent visit to Uncle Billy’s here.

Location Changes

Two popular Serg Group restaurants made location swaps this year! Nectar moved to the old space occupied by Lucky Rooster Kitchen and Bar. Meanwhile, One Hot Mama’s moved to the old Nectar location at the gate to Sea Pines Resort:
