Starland Yard, Savannah’s immensely popular food truck park, has begun a build out on 2 new brick and mortar concepts inside of the yard. “Brick and Mortar” in so much as 2 new shipping containers are being installed to become 2 new permanent restaurants. Who they are and what they will be is still under wraps.

“We are really excited about the concepts that are coming. It will be really cool once they can share.” says John Benhase, one of the principals at Starland Yard.

The new vendors will be small. Obviously, just like the established pizzeria, there will be no indoor seating. That will still be in the ‘yard,’ if you will. Beyond that, the possibilities for quick eats in the Starland neighborhood as a whole are about to get better too. The plan as of now is for each of the 2 new spaces to have take out windows facing DeSoto Avenue.

“The really wonderful thing that is trying to be addressed is that people can come and get that food without coming into Starland Yard.” John says. “Sometimes I want to come in to Starland Yard, but there is also times when I just want to grab a pizza and run. We are hoping to do that with all 3 concepts.”

John added that while hours of operation will be up to each individual operator, the hope is to provide more regular lunch hour options to Starland’s daytime visitors.

Pizzeria Vittoria (pictured above) has already installed a 2nd oven and a take out window to handle the type of traffic.

Of course, the magic question-as it always is-is when?

“We don’t have a timeline simply based solely on things like how long the pre-fab store fronts are going to take to come in and stuff like that.” John says. “Besides that, we’re cookin’. Hopefully this Fall.”
